No, the moon won't be turning a hot pink color, but tomorrow night, Tuesday April 7, 2020, we will be having another "Super Moon!" Of course we may not get to see it if it is still cloudy, but it is there. A "super" full moon is called "super" because it is nearer to the Earth (
in perigee, the closest spot to us in its orbit around Earth). This one will be the first full moon of spring and is known as the
"Pink" Full Moon, due to the time the moss pink (
phlox subulata) flowers bloom. It will be the biggest, brightest full moon of the year.
It is also known as the
Paschal Moon, which is the full moon that determines when Easter will be--first Sunday after the Paschal full moon. So, happy spring! Happy Easter!
